What to Expect

OUTLINE
Animation Materials/Software: There are no restrictions on the materials or software your team chooses to use to animate, so we recommend that you use what you are most comfortable with. *Take this time to think about what method you may want to use, and plan accordingly. You may also use animation resource books/guides, image catalogs, etc.

Communication: Constant communication is VERY important. The ASIFA-Atlanta staff will be accessible at all times during competition hours. Participant cell phone numbers will be logged upon the starting of the competition (between 9:30am and 10:00am, November 12, 2011). If you leave your location at any time during competition hours, please remember to take you phone with you. *TIP: make sure your phone is always charged, and have your charger handy.
Communication between groups is allowed. You may share ideas, lend advice, swap materials, etc. These groups are located throughout Georgia, and there will be designated times when you’re encouraged to communicate with them. Discussions of the challenge is only authorized with registered participants, the sponsoring client, authorized press, and the ASIFA-Atlanta staff.

Internet Access: It is very important that you are familiar with your internet speed, and can average how long it will take to send files online. All progress updates and the final animation will be sent via email.

Still/Video Camera & Scanner: Non-digital animations are required to email images of their work progress. All sketches, notes, materials, objects, etc. must be documented, and emailed to the ASIFA-Atlanta staff at various scheduled times. *Tip: Please make sure your camera is charged, and memory card is cleared to avoid any complications.
If you wish to use your still/video camera just to document the event, that is perfectly fine - and highly encouraged. However the publishing of all images and videos to non-challenge entities is only allowed after 10:00PM (EST), November 13, 2011. This is to help ensure the integrity of the challenge.

Promissory Letter: Before the challenge, all participants will be emailed a letter spelling out the regulations of this challenge. This letter must be reviewed and agreed upon BEFORE the challenge.

Press: ASIFA-Atlanta is documenting this event, and will produce a behind-the-scenes video. Journalists will make location visits, and would love to include your process in the master video. We also welcome your personal footage and images.

Screening: The winning animations will be screened at the High Museum of Art on December 10, 2011 at 2pm and 8pm. The films will also be included in the ASIFA Atlanta 2012 International Animation Day program, which is exchanged with ASIFA chapters around the world in October.
